Rafa Neighbours and Teams
On a peninsular, somewhat an island, it’s hard to get away from football- and in West Kirby that’s Liverpool FC.
Rafael Benitez may not be the type of resident prone to walkabout the town much but Mr B is a man of integrity and much loved. He is spotted in local restaurants, signing autographs at local schools arriving quietly.
To us who have had the pleasure of meeting him and his family, he is a boss with a tough job.
The Paul Tomkins interview is very reflective of the great man. I have my own stories!
Delivering a great performance takes many things. Great players, fit players, positive mental attitude/ focus, team spirit. What the Man U game showed was I believe the team spirit capable of current Liverpool players- and Rafa re iterated the 12th man – the fans.
There are LFC supporters around the globe, Liverpool is global. Twitters voice opinions in many languages. And right now #backrafa #YNWA echo. What other team could ever have that unfailing support.
I believe in Rafael Benitez and the team and THE SUPPORTERS.

For the 12th player at Anfield
“Don’t let your heads drop.
All the players who go on
the pitch after half-time have
to keep their heads held high.
We are Liverpool. You are
playing for Liverpool.
Do not forget that.
You have to hold your
heads high for the supporters.
You have to do it for them.
You cannot call yourselves
Liverpool players if you have
your heads down.
If we create a few chances
we have the possibility of
getting back into this.
Believe you can do it and you will.
Give yourself the chance
to be heroes.”
(Rafa Benitez – Half time.
Ataturk Stadium. Istanbul.

Rafael Benitez Maudes left Liverpool Football Club June 2010.
He very generously donated £96,000 to the Hillsborough Families Support Group.
He will never walk alone.
