What a mad and fabulous few weeks. And it is only a few weeks ago that some banter on twitter led to the first West Kirby Food and Drink Festival!
And for first attempt, with lets face it limited planning and no money, it has been fun!
Thank you to the 4 Come Dines- Aubergine, Lattetude, Red Door and Ridger for throwing themselves into doing something special. Not only devising new meals, donating to charity, and hosting each other- but also wanting to promote the town.
All 4 achieved an average score of 9.3 or higher, but with differing size venues it was a tough call. In the end I called joint firsts for Aubergine and The Ridger. They not only had the 2 highest number of Charity dishes served, but too close to call average marks!
And here are some of the comments:
Lattetude-”FAB!! Great staff and great food. Lovely setting and perfect on the wallet”
Red Door-”Beautiful fish- I loved the spicy sauce. Ambience and company great”
Aubergine-”Lovely, cosy, friendly cafe- the porkpie and scotch egg were the best i’ve ever tasted”
The Ridger -”The soup was suppa duppa and the rest platter licking good, wish i could give more points”
Thank you Graeme Lamb and Mark for eating, sharing thoughts, and eating again!
Thank you Jade Wright and 7Streets, Visit Wirral, Esther McVey, Cllr Jeff Green, and Live Music Gigs, RS Promotions great promotion.
Thank you also The TeaRooms, Scogs, Surfers, AI Hintons and Peerless Brewery for entering into the spirit of it all!
Thank you Wirral Watch suggesting hashtag! and Twirral for promoting.
And thank you the people who visited West Kirby and enjoyed the experience!
No doubt I’ll be adding to this post. But had to say thank you
